Yoga class explanations for beginners

Joining a yoga studio for the first time can be a bit intimidating. After all, there are so many different types of classes and experience levels, and how in the world are you supposed to know what kind of yoga class is going to be the right fit for you?

Vinyasa Flow – This type of yoga class is all about flow. Think of this type of yoga as almost a dance. The movement and poses are fluid and move with your breath. These kinds of yoga classes are great for all levels of abilities because they can easily be modified. Also, you are not holding poses for very long periods of time as you are in other yoga types. Do not be surprised if you find yourself working up a sweat in a Vinyasa yoga class.

Adaptive Yoga – if you think that you are not able to do yoga due to some kind of mobility restriction, think again! Adaptive yoga classes are intended to do just that. This is a class where all of the poses are adapted using props such as straps, chairs, or blankets in order to assist someone in their yoga experience. This kind of class is great for anyone that might have an amputated limb, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, arthritis and much more.

Ashtanga Primary –Ashtanga yoga is all about routine. In Ashtanga yoga you are going to get the same yoga class every time as the class is constructed around the idea of six main yoga series.

Deep Healing Yoga – This kind of yoga is intended to implement many different yoga styles along with deep breathing and meditation in order to stimulate the healing properties in the body.

Kundalini Yoga – This type of yoga is like a fuse of meditation yoga. This kind of class is very different than other yoga types. It is considered a very spiritual practice and involves intense breathe work as well as chanting or singing and meditation.

Yin Yoga – this yoga is class is great for yoga students that are any and all levels in their practice. This is a class that helps you to take control of your mind and guide you toward finding your Zen. Poses are held longer – for up to several minutes at a time. This would also be considered a mediation yoga class and is all about relaxing into long poses. This kind of yoga is great for people that are looking for an outlet to stretch and relax into.

Reiki Restorative – Reiki restorative is another great yoga medication combination. Reiki is an ancient Japanese Buddhist practice that is intended to help heal the body in areas that need it. It can also help to restore emotional wellbeing.

Restorative Yoga – This kind of yoga is very much like it sounds. It is all about restoring the body. Since this yoga is intended to help restore the body, you will feel like the poses and series are less strenuous. This kind of yoga is great for people that are recovering from an injury.
